Host A House Concert
House Concerts — Intimate Live Music, Up Close
A house concert is a small, invitation-only live music experience where songs and stories are shared in a relaxed, attentive setting — up close, face to face.
Hosted in a home, church hall, backyard, or community space, these concerts offer a focused listening experience without the distance or distractions of a traditional venue.
This is a concert — not background entertainment for a party.
What This Is — And What It Isn’t
This is a concert, not background entertainment for a party. The music is the main event — a focused live performance of original songs and stories meant to be listened to and experienced together.
That said, the format is flexible. Some hosts prefer a listening-first evening where guests arrive and settle in for the performance. Others enjoy light socializing beforehand, sometimes with snacks or a potluck. Either approach works, as long as the music is given full attention once the concert begins.
Hosting a House Concert
Hosting is simple. You provide the space and invite friends, family, or community members who enjoy live music and listening — I take care of the music and the flow of the evening.
To make the event viable, a minimum of 25–30 guests is typically needed. Guests attend free of charge, and a voluntary donation is collected at the conclusion of the performance to support the music.
Because these events often involve travel, hosting also includes overnight accommodations — either in your home or by arranging nearby lodging if preferred. I travel to the event at my own expense.
Planning & Invitations
Most successful house concerts follow a simple timeline:
-
Initial invitation 4–6 weeks before the event
-
Reminder around 2 weeks out
-
Final note the week of the performance
I’m happy to provide invitation language and RSVP support.
